Advocacy is a planned, deliberate, and sustained effort to achieve change. To be effective, LawHub engages in legal and policy reform advocacy based on established facts and objective analysis, grounded in concrete proposals that address documented public concerns, and attempt to influence legislative processes to ensure that the needs of the population are considered by those making the decisions. Our emphasis in this regard is on our thematic areas.

In respect of our thematic areas, we execute projects to assist organizations by designing effective strategies and emerging tools which in turn will facilitate better performance internally and in their outputs. We provide customized capacity building and training programs for both public and private sector institutions to develop and strengthen the skills, abilities, processes and resources that they need to survive and adapt for sound management, strong governance and result-oriented performance.

LawHub regards education as highly instrumental in societal development as it opens the door to socio-economic opportunities that strengthen the capacities of the citizens. In respect of our thematic areas, we conduct trainings for relevant institutions; organize awareness-raising activities, such as publication of easy-to-understand information brochures on laws; and provide platforms for public debate, by organizing conferences, seminars, and roundtables among others.

We regularly carry out research to identify, document and raise awareness about the knowledge gaps in the execution of relevant legislative frameworks. We undertake interdisciplinary research and policy analysis on the social dimensions of contemporary developmental issues. We believe that research is indispensable to structural development in every sphere of life, and we carefully identify and research into the problems and policies affecting political, social and economic development in our focus areas. Furthermore, we develop practical strategies which are documented and are adopted by relevant institutions for implementation or when necessary, are sent as recommendations to implement bodies both in the public and private sectors. For example, we have conducted a very thorough comparative analysis of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act and the Administration of Criminal Justice Laws of some states in Nigeria. This was based on the need to identify the differences in the provisions of the legislations and expose stakeholders to the peculiar provisions as applicable in their various jurisdictions. This will generally improve the compliance rate.
