Climate is a global concern that seriously threatens Nigeria`s environment, economy, and health of its population. Law Hub tackles the devastating effects of environmental degradation and climate change. We recognise that climate change poses a significant threat not only to health but also to our environment, security, the economy and overall well-being. Through evidence-based research, we work to create stronger climate action laws and policies at national and state levels. We also focus on building institutional capacity for climate change. This includes a just transition to clean energy, promoting renewable energy solutions, and advocating for a sustainable green economy. Additionally, Law Hub is committed to championing climate justice as a key aspect of achieving sustainable development.
Law Hub shall focus on the following key areas of this programme, among others:

Climate Change and Gender Justice
Policy Advocacy on Climate Change.
Energy and Extractive Industry Justice.
Capacity Building
Renewable Energy
Supporting community led initiatives that address environmental issues.
The energy sector is very important in Nigeria as it cuts across the residential, commercial, transportation, agricultural and housing segments of Nigeria`s economy.

The Energy and Extractive Industry Justice programme shall focus on Oil & Gas and Mining.

Mining sector is a top priority as Law Hub proposes to address the following areas among others:

1.Conflict resolution through strengthening of livelihood

2. Protection of the environment from further degradation
3. Sensitisation of communities on the effect of climate change
4. Capacity-building to address poverty through trash-to-treasure initiative.
5. To strengthen weak legal and policy framework in the mining sector
6. Failure of mining companies to pay tax.

With regard to the Oil & Gas we propose to focus on the following areas:

1. Advocacy for full compliance with the Local Content Act
2. Advocacy for the full implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act
3. Advocacy for the implementation of the Host Communities Development Fund so that the Host Communities can directly benefit from the funds.
4. Advocacy for the enactment of Renewable energy Act in Nigeria.
5. Analysis of environmental impact assessment.
6. Advocacy for energy efficiency.
7. Ensuring the sustenance of environmental, social, governance (ESG) culture in the Oil and Gas industry.
